I'm serious! I'm being followed! And I take back everything I said about you!
Back on May 25th my I.T. Department sent me a notice that new security standards in Europe were going into effect with which Google and Facebook had not complied. There may be an interruption in service! Duly noted.
Everything seemed to be working fine so I filed the notice away and forgot all about it.
This blog is hosted by blogspot, which is associated with Google (that's why it is easy to comment if you're signed in on a Google account). I have used blogspot for my last three adventures ( check out frogP48.blogspot.com and frogsAK49.blogspot.com also) and one thing I like about it is that it sends me an e-mail each time someone comments on a page, telling me who, when, where and what was written.
Somewhere during Memorial Day weekend, the e-mails stopped coming in. I figured that everyone was off on adventures of their own and would "catch up" with my blog later. But it never happened. Everyone suddenly lost interest in the blog and went back to their own lives. Although it was, on my end, sad and lonely it happened and I continued on my way toward Santiago de Compostela. ☹️
Or so I thought...
With everything else I was doing I never went to the blog itself (it is composed and assembled on a separate page so I seldom see exactly what it looks like. In talking to my wife I mentioned to her that I was feeling a little lonely since everyone stopped following me. She was in disbelief and assured me that many comments had been posted. So today, having arrived early enough to rest, eat and chat, I also went on-line and read all the wonderful comments that had been left each day. In the words of Sally Field, "They like me, they really, really like me!"
So you're off the hook and I, with egg on my face, apologize to everyone who has faithfully followed my words and pictures. You make me feel that I can do this! I am now less than 200 km away from my goal. The Camino de Santiago ends in the Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela, officially. There is an additional distance to travel to Finisterra (82.6 km), translated roughly to "the end of the earth" which, due to my young brides confidence that we will return next year so that we can finish together, I will delay my visit until I can hold her hand as we behold the beauty of life.
As for being followed (other than on-line), I went to lunch today at a nice little restaurant. I had pizza, with champinones, for lunch!

Hi Jerry.you don't know me..I graduated from bmhs in 68. I do know your beautiful bride and all of her comrades from said school, tho. I just want you to know that I have read each and every one of your daily experiences and have found them to be informative, interesting and above all heartwarming. Thank you for taking us with you on this fantastic journey. I will continue to wish you well until you are reunited with Alicia; when you can really move forward with your new life. Your love story is refreshing, beautiful and perfect...take care.

ReplyDeleteI’m here too, reading almost every day. What a fascinating man you are. Well, of course, my cousin Alicia has good taste.... but you do continual to awe me with your walk, your adventures , and your insightful and humorous writing skills. You are a natural storyteller!
ReplyDeleteLove you cousin.
DeleteYou knew this part of the journey was going to be mentally challenging. You just didn’t know Google and WiFi were in on it.
ReplyDeleteDon’t worry though, I’m sure Saint James dealt with the same hardships along his Way ;-)
DeleteI have enjoyed your daily blog. The humor makes me laugh. At times I cry and and of course laugh some more when you talk about your lovely wife Betty and your love for Alicia. Do you still have rosaries to be left along your journey? Jerry you could write a book.
