And then there's this...

I ran into another shower arrangement I have not seen before.
This one has a standard shower curtain but the shower head is on the SIDE of the shower stall. You pull the curtain shut, turn the water on and, because it is only two feet away, the water pressure blows the bottom of the curtain out of the tub! And the curtain is only about 5'6" above the tub, not high enough for someone of average Americano height to splash water on his (theoretical) bald spot without splashing over the curtain!

Then I discovered this:
Because laundry services are not always available I periodically wash my socks by hand in the sink. I was noticing that the bottom of my socks were not coming clean, or so I thought. I have figured it out however. To speed the drying time I, whenever possible, stick the sock over the end of a hair dryer. Apparently some hair dryers have higher wattage ratings than others. The bottoms are actually beginning to burn!

  1. The singeing of the socks is actually due to the flames coming from your feet at the high rate of speed you are walking the Camino!

  2. After frying your socks , I trust you got some rest. Hoping you have a couple backup pair!

  3. I don’t know if this is true for all of Europe, but when I was in Germany, I was told that showers are actually done sitting or kneeling - that is why the shower head is on a cord instead of attached to the wall like we are use to. Additiionally, they will turn the water on, rinse themselvesoff, turn the water off, soap and lather up, then turn the water on again to rinse off the soap. Maybe this might help shed some light on your strange showers.
